29 April 2007 To Hensol forest Ride leader: Nick Canham Vale Meet Again! G’day, are you sitting comfortably? Then I shall begin. It all started one beautiful morning at the usual meeting place. We had a good and varied collection of Bikee Tredalists (9). The weather was clear, sunny and breezy. A good day to get your washing out on the line or cycle through country lanes and wooded glades. I multitasked and did both! Our first challenge was Leckwith hill, after our first collection of blood clots had been shifted! We pressed on to Dinas Powys and stopped near Wenvoe to inspect a memorial to the Quarry Workmen. We then pushed on to Llancarfan and the burial chamber at St Lythan's. We did lose half the group, but they passed the test and found us, using initiative and modern technology. At last we cycled to Peterston and the Sportsman's Rest, which became more of a test due to delays and confusion in the food orders. But they delivered, compensated, and apologized. Then after the feed, refreshment, and rest the group flubbered back to St Fagans and Cardiff = Bag End. What a sunny day seeing places I’d never seen. Passing through the rolling hills and valleys of the vale with beautiful views, the good company & fellowship of the ting, ting, ting-a-ling. Nigel Canterbury
