04 March 2007 Caerphilly Ride report Leader: Max Smith Despite awful weather conditions and a dismal forecast quite surprisingly five of us turned up for this ride to Caerphilly. It was solid rain all the way - which kept most of the pedestrians at home, but we might have recruited another Cycle Cardiff member - who was pushing his bike with a puncture. Max offered him a puncture repair and they got chatting about who we were. As we approached Caerphilly we were hailed by a group of protesters (against a proposed concealed entrance) who asked us to help, so we had out photo taken. Ten minutes earlier and we might have got into the local press. All good publicity! We ended up in a pub with fantastic views over the castle moat - with excellent music and very welcoming staff. We managed to dry out a bit and even flirted with the idea of getting the train home (Nigel excluded...) but of course we didn't do that. A very energizing and exhilharating ride. Sheila Johnson
