Students and cyclists pulled on their glad rags on Friday 13 June to cycle in Cardiff Bay to mark the start of Bike Week 2008.
The joint event between UWIC and Cycle Cardiff was attended by a cross section of Cardiff’s cycling community – campaigners, commuters, and politicians alike. Intended as a sociable start to the week’s activities, the event was also the culmination of a term’s work by foundation year students working on textile design and final year students on the product design BSc degree. Their creations ranged from sequinned visibility aids to adaptable cycling high-heeled shoes.
The events showed that cycling isn’t just about stretch Lycra but can also be combined with a fashionable look and lifestyle.
